Canadian Muslim Forum denounces nomination of Rights and Democracy head (Montreal, Quebec ?March 3 2010)

The Canadian Muslim Forum (CMF) today added its voice to other human rights groups in denouncing to the nomination of Gerard Latulippe for president of Rights and Democracy.

Mr. Latulippe went on record and made Islamophobic statements. In his submission to the Reasonable Accommodation Commission, Mr. Latulippe argued that Quebec Muslims are a risk to the safety and security of Quebec society.?

Commenting to the suggested appointment, Mr. Bilal Hamideh, CMF spokepeson, said ? Mr. Latulippe?s nomination to Rights and Democracy comes as a shock since the organization?s mandate is to  promote Canadian universal values of human rights.

Mr. Hamideh added up ?During the Quebec-based reasonable accommodation debate  Mr. Latulippe was interviewed and said that many Hasidic Jews, Sikhs and Muslims were not integrating into Quebec society."

Canadian Muslim Forum urges Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon to withdraw the appointment of Gerard Latulippe as President of Rights and Democracy.
